Mending My Heart

I miss my cool blue red clay

The wind curling around my face
As the sun warms me, my fear
Hiding in the shade by the well

You came one by one
Even the timid
To curl beside me
To breathe your day into mine

If there is a limit on our time
Ignored it will be today
My story is long and
Time is my Shadow

Hushed in nuzzled comfort
With no concern for worry
We catch a glimpse
Of our last memory

Stretching beyond possibility
And mindful of my presence
You move again to dream
Mending my heart forever
